Very old Candid Camera clip, but an excellent example of why The Majority is such a strong influence, even when completely nonsensical.

...and people wonder why over 2/3 of the world belong to some dogmatic religion...it take a strong, confident, lateral thinker to make progress beyond "the way we've always done things." And unfortunately, they're rare.

Re: Sheep Mentality
Thu, September 24, 2009 - 1:37 PMI called the religious lot "sheeple" one time and got kicked out of a Christian group.Ha!Ha! This is a great video! It is perfect to evidence how easily people follow. I used to hang out on Hollywood Blvd back in the 80's with my spiked hair, spike wristband, belt and all of that. We would fuck with the "Norm's". That was the normal dressed people. One time we were in a small group all looking up just to see how many people we could get to do it. Every person that came past the pizza palace looked up to see what we were looking at. If they were norms we would get on their ass yelling "HEY YOU DONT GET TO LOOK AT THIS!!! GO AWAY TO YOUR OWN KIND NORM!!!".Ha!Ha! It was funny as hell.
I find that if people were not conditioned as children to believe the religious crap, as adults they would not touch it because it is stupid. I have been told that it is wrong to disrespect someones spiritual beliefs. After 44 years of disrespect from the motherfucking Christian Occult, I'll be damned to hell in gasoline boxers if I will ever give a coon dog fuck if they feel disrespected. They need to STOP teaching children this flawed hateful shit! They use children because they are easy prey, and that is just how those sorry fuckers are.
And that IS NOT just the Christian Occult! Have you ever met anyone from the goddamned Islamic Brotherhood??? I have, and they HATED ME because they believe my race was formed by the splicing of genes between a rat and a cat. I am drop dead serious folks. Just because my skin is white....If we had a religion that hated black people for some reason the NAACP would throw a fucking shoe and march and protest and rally until they could no longer function. Or they would bring in the Black Panthers like they did here in Lumberton Texas to threaten people with violence. www.beaumontenterprise.com/news....html
(BTW, the video released showed the guy who died wandering around the parking lot not responding to police and trying to walk away. Toxicology showed he was full of PCP....) -

Re: Sheep Mentality
Thu, September 24, 2009 - 4:29 PMYou make an excellent point, Adam - it's NOT just Christians that indoctrinate any young and/or impressionable people they can get their hands on.
But the indoctrinated are not the only ones who follow.
When you were in the 80's with your spiked hair, spiked wristband, belt and all of that, you ("we") were a part of a group. A less popular, less respected, and more exclusive group, but you followed.
I follow.
We all do.
We are defined by what we choose to follow and what we choose not to.
That's why I specified that strong, confident, lateral thinkers are so rare: even the vast majority of "alternative" people are still just followers - some are more attracted to larger, more mainstream groups (Christianity, preps, etc.), some are more attracted to smaller, more alternative groups (atheism, goths, etc.), and we don't all join the groups JUST to follow them, but we weren't the ones who came up with it so we're still following. The funny thing is, is that the only thing strong, confident, lateral thinkers produce are more followers - they just follow something new. -

Re: Sheep Mentality
Fri, September 25, 2009 - 1:27 PMI hear that people follow; I believe it, but I have trouble understanding it - except to report that I would *love* to follow - jesus lord it would be a huge relief - but there is nothing worth following yet, that I have found. I occasionally make a banner and follow it, but then the expressions, beliefs, and expectations of the other people that fall in behind me creep me out or disappoint me or enrage me so that I tear up the banner and snarl "wtf is wrong with you dumbass cattle-persons?!?" -
