"The Bible is riddled with repetitions and contradictions, things that the Bible bangers would be quick to point out in anything that they want to criticize. For instance, Genesis 1 and 2 disagree about the order in which things are created, and how satisfied God is about the results of his labors. The flood story is really two interwoven stories that contradict each other on how many of each kind of animal are to be brought into the Ark--is it one pair each or seven pairs each of the "clean" ones? The Gospel of John disagrees with the other three Gospels on the activities of Jesus Christ (how long had he stayed in Jerusalem--a couple of days or a whole year?) and all four Gospels contradict each other on the details of Jesus Christ's last moments and resurrection. The Gospels of Matthew and Luke contradict each other on the genealogy of Jesus Christ's father; though both agree that Joseph was not his real father. Repetitions and contradictions are understandable for a hodgepodge collection of documents, but not for some carefully constructed treatise, reflecting a well-thought-out plan."

Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 5:01 PMAgain with the "immaculate" shit. First: I don't really care, I can't be trapped that way (gnomic). Second, the body is *always* a result of sexual contact. No matter how you look at it. That doesn't mean the soul didn't come from "far away", or whatever angular notion some dunce might put on it.

Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 5:13 PMMore of the tired old contradictions, huh? Let's not forget that humans are frail creatures and make mistakes and that humans are the keepers of the Word.
But the real point is your lack of leap, not the inconsistencies you nurse like a baby panda and feed on like a pack of wolves.
I cannot explain it but to say I've seen God work in many lives, beautifully. I've witnessed his miracle, not in the form of monetary reward or physical comfort, but rather in ease of mind and comfort of spirit.
You gotta have faith boys. You gotta feel it in your heart and in your soul. Your desperation is evident by how you flail and wail and denounce untried.
You can try to poke holes and pull threads all you want but until you actually sit down and read the Bible with an open heart---you're fucked. And we believers can only smile knowingly and suggest you open The Book.

Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 5:22 PMGod gets the best shit, without question. Jesus is all riled up and in-your-face - it's natural; He's young. Give Him time. He'll settle down.
Basically, the grown-up way to see it is that God knows how to play ball. God will work something out with you. It's about keeping a flow going, and, as long as you're not out there bragging "God is a pussy" then you can expect a reasonable, worldly, and sympathetic facility from The Lord Your God that you shouldn't really expect from Krsna or Buddha (but, you know, any or all of them will back whatever asshole who has enough guns and payola to make a splash).

Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 7:15 PMroger is busy looking for the really big ideas.
here's one, form based: if christians denounced all the rest, and they 'burned', well as we know, energy is always converted, and since this system here (qblh) repeats, the new assiah would be generated by more rational people. Not that they wouldn't fall into the same trap. Reticence. But, see here. How do we generate females? Ok, maybe that isn't the way to go about it. But this: there would be a pull. christians want to be immortal, and sexually pure. But the pure from below would be important, right? Problems would arise, and god would need them to go down and fix them. Which means they might get sacificed. I mean, after all, some people always want to sacrifice someone. Never enough, actually. The Stag. It goes so deep into history, it's not even funny. So, christians... GET THE FUCK OFF MY BACK! IF YOU WANT NO FIX TO THIS PROBLEM, THERE WILL BE A GIANT BOOT UP YOUR ASS **SOOO HARD**, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. You never give up worshiping a man holding his juices, and this was all a woman's fault anyway. That's why a proper sort of consensual sex is allowed. Precisely because all you fools want to be neck-deep in each other's asses. This is the place, have some fun. -

Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 7:17 PMSeriously, some Jews think that angels want to be human? For what? to get sacrificed, so they can be angels again?
There is such a gigantic branch of idiotsaurus here, it's not even funny.
Women worship the male form, and it's obvious why. christians are a branch of idiot women. Women need to look within, and use their brains. Their driven by their hormones.

Re: Biblical Proportions
Thu, October 29, 2009 - 4:48 PMThe game of Life is what we make of it, Roger. Some choose to while away the hours in bitterness and despair, others choose to be in action. Some look to a Higher Power for guidance and comfort, others slither through the sewers with only hate for company. Some choose to walk away from such hatred, others court pain as if it were a lady. Your body is your playing piece. Are you the shoe or are you the top hat? Are you content with Baltic Avenue or do you aspire to Park Place? Do you give a rolling fuck about the Community Chest?
These are the contemplative questions you must ask yourself as you write the next big after-school special.

Re: Biblical Proportions
Thu, October 29, 2009 - 6:44 PMAnd here's some of the awful fucking shit this god of the ancient book of lies and hearsay does...
Deuteronomy 2
32Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.
33And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:
35Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
36From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:
Hosea 13
4Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.
5I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
6According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.
7Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:
8I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.
9O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.
10I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?
11I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.
12The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.
13The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.
14I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
15Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.
16Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
Deuteronomy 3:6
And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.
Deuteronomy 28
45Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
46And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
47Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
48Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
49The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
50A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:
51And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
52And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
53And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
54So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
55So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
1 Samuel 15
2Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
3Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
2 Kings 8
10And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.
11And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.
12And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.
2 Kings 15
12This was the word of the LORD which he spake unto Jehu, saying, Thy sons shall sit on the throne of Israel unto the fourth generation. And so it came to pass.
13Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the nine and thirtieth year of Uzziah king of Judah; and he reigned a full month in Samaria.
14For Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria, and smote Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and slew him, and reigned in his stead.
15And the rest of the acts of Shallum, and his conspiracy which he made, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
16Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.
I dont give a fuck what these ignorant fucks do in their little church. But I will not be so stupid as to believe this kind of mentally ill sick shit does not produce phycho fuckers like Jason et al. Those looking to the "higher power" need their fuckin head checked. Because that is a totally imagined ideology which has absolutely no basis in fact. Go tell it on the fuckin mountain, because it falls on deaf ears here until you believing motherfuckers show some proof of this killing maiming gods existance. Your pathetic emotional blackmail has no effect. You post flawed logic, now back it up or shut up.... -

A very joyful evening to all!
Thu, October 29, 2009 - 7:09 PMOh Adam I wish I could be more succinct but I'm too happy to debate heatedly! I'm feeling more hopeful than argumentative and the only response I can seem to come up with is this:

I don't want to argue with whatever you believe, only to tell you that well, like I said before:

Re: Biblical Proportions
Thu, October 29, 2009 - 9:16 PMThanks Dave, I have been compiling that list for quite some time. There's more, but I didnt feel like pulling both files to get it all.
Lucy!!! I love that song!!! And I feel the same way as I have recently learned that my daughter is 10 weeks pregnant and I am about to be a Grandfather! EXCELLENT choice of songs for the way I have been feeling! Thanks!!!
As she recounted her first ultrasound she said the baby looks like a peanut, so I'm telling you here and now I am nicknaming my grandbaby "Peanut" because of that. Just because I enjoy redressing shitstains in the fabric of society who are willfully ignorant, that can NEVER kill the buzz of pride and happiness I have in my life.

Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 6:29 PMI love Lucy. Lucy, you are a sweet lady. I will come back again and again and write poetry for you, you are my muse. We might very well wed here and there, and I suspect you will die in childbirth ofttimes. It happens, the sweet lord deigns it. My ardor for you is complete. But never in this era. It's true that you humans are the Keepers of the Word, and that is the Bible. A man will step into the role, and he will be your son. Take it where you can. Now, this means you will be a virgin that life. And perhaps beyond. But you can handle that. And the insufferable nastiness of this present era will never touch you. So there.

Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 5:17 PMThis is a different context this time Loki. How do you mean its placement this time?
Remember, history is a fucking blizzard of very wierd connections.
What was Gomorrah's crime? There were more cities than that. Somebody got either nuked or hellfired, and it was because of all the stupid infighting. -

Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 6:23 PMThe simple fact here being that you really don't understand that this is never my job. I'm not kidding. Deface your own idol, see if I give a shit. Besides, it never gets you anywhere.
I know you can't keep all the thought up front, and neither can I, but now you're doing some of the same shit as others, but you're funny, and so I give you a pass. Think about this: we welcome visitors. God welcomes humans. God is an alien, god is not a man. Simply befuddled, you lazy monkeys. We make a world for you over and over, and you never seem to appreciate it.
Once again, think about it: you dominate yourselves. Had to put the general evil somewhere.

Wed, October 28, 2009 - 6:36 PMThose are very funny, BTW. I would be Tango, of course. "Abraham, don't sacrifice your son!"
You people never learn.

Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 6:49 PMNote: after the resurrection, they eat ribs. And, honestly:
It's all just a story to me. We got ya covered from every possible angle.
Adam: Aleph, Daleth, Mem.
Eve: Cheth, Vau, Heh.
Now: Ox, Door, Water. Enclosure, Peg, Body.
Get it? -

Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 6:52 PMWhere does Xenu fit in to all of this? -
-
Re: Biblical Contradictions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 6:55 PMYou wanna be Xenu, you be Xenu, but you should know what that means.
It means you failed in the first place. The whole thing is about limitation, so a person can think.
And beyond that?
Why do christians marry as soon as possible, why is that the greatest notion behind the Bible?
Balance.
Somebody is flipping me off, and tough shit. I never do that with anyone.
