" Probably because the sun is ultimately the cause of weather in the solar system and all planets go through climate stages. However to think that human beings don't have an effect on the climate and enviorment is just foolish. We have been changing climatic conditions for centuries and we still don't fully understand our global climatic system. How it will ultimately effect the world is not yet known. What is known is that we are releasing massive amounts of carbon into the air. We have a sister planet in the solar system whos atmosphere and climate gives a pretty dramatic example of how massive amounts of carbon can effect a planet near or in the life zone. Do I think the icecap will melt overnight? The problem with industrialization is twofold, the deforestation by logging and developments are reducing the number of trees which leaves MORE ambient C02 then they can consume. Cars add to the problem by producing C02 emmissions, as do things like industrial meat farms which also add other gasses in excess like methane. The result is excessive C02. This leads to global temperature increaes which in turn wipes out more plant species, melts the ice caps which dumps fresh water into the North Sea, and removes the energy from the jet stream in the northern hemisphere, causing climate changes globally, creating futher desertification in various regioms as well as weather problems in europe and north america. C02 retains solar energy more efficiently than oxygen, so the planet will continue to heat. The human population by breathing alone is not the issue, the problem of energy infrastructure from fossil fuels is the problem.
